mysterious automatic renaming

My work flow is to draw each new scene in Mirage and render as an uncompressed pencil test avi to Vegas. Typically, I will name the scene 8 (section 8 of the overall project) followed by the scene number in decimal increments, therefore scene # 26 is called 8-260 in Mirage and becomes event 8-260 in Vegas.

Suddenly, this scene is now called 8-260 (3/3)
What happened and what does the (3/3) stand for? I tried re-rendering but nothing has changed.

Furthermore, I am using this very same event, only playing it in reverse, therefore I dragged 8-260 onto the end of my timeline, and in the drop down menu I selected REVERSE and there it is, playing in reverse, but now it's name is 8-260.avi - subclip 1 (reversed) (2/2). Can someone please explain this mysterious renaming to me?

When I add an Event to an Event as a "TAKE" then I get Take number 2 of 2, which is shortened to (2/2). Do you think this is what is happening? One way to find out is to highlight the event and and apply Loop playback and while it is playing watch when you hit the "T" key. It should allow you to alternate through Take1 and then Take2. Does it? Anyway, Takes are a very powerful feature of Vegas. I use them for all sorts of reasons. Maybe WHAT you are doing is adding this "alternative" result to your existing Event as a Take. Neat!

Aahh, that explains it, Grazie. By pressing T I can cycle through the various takes it once was when I was replacing a certain event on the timeline by this particular event. I have to read up more on TAKES now. Thanks for the heads up.
