Mystery Video footage..

I am editing a basketball game. I took out all commericals. After my first render I noticed I missed one(commerical). Deleted tht file, reopened my .veg. Edited it out of the timeline. The problem is this....When I render it again the commerical is still there even though it is not in the timeline. I cleared the media pool, deleted all files pertaining to the orginial one, no matter what it is still there. I am only using one video track so it's hidden in the timeline. I actually looped the region I had trouble with and the commerical is gone, however when I render the entire file it magicly reappears.

Does anyone know what the deal is? BTW I have also cleared all temp files on my machine.
It almost acts like it's pulling up the old file even though it is gone. Heck I even changed the name of the file. Still there..

What happens if you render just the "bad" part that shows the commercial on the completed .avi and play it back? i.e. select the segment on the timeline that corresponds in time with the finished .avi file and commercial and render. Does it still show up in the .avi file?

No it dosen't...I looped just that region and render it and the commerical is gone. However when I do the entire file it is still there. It's a;most like vegas is not actually rendering the file again.

Like I said. I changed the file name, changed it's output location and it is still there. It's not just a vegas problem. If I open the file in a file player the commerical is there.

Just for kicks, how about prerendering the comlete project from the timeline and then printing to tape to see if it is still there. Sounds like you are doing everything correctly though...

Imagine what advertisers would pay to have undeleteable commercials.

My cable company just started offering hard disk video recorders that can be rented by the month. It's not a bad price either, something like $40/month. IF you do a lot of time shifting it can be quite useful. They also have an "ad free" option that automatically eliminates the ads while it's recording, however you have to pay an additional $35 per hour to use this option! I'm wondering if that money goes to the television stations who will potentially lose advertising revenue, or if the cable company simply pockets it.

Having brought the ad to the customer they've fulfilled their obligation to the network. They may then offer you a way to get rid of the stuff they've left at your doorstep - for a fee.
Many years ago I was in a band that backed Champion Jack Dupreee when he was in town. He used to tell stories about his mother-in-law, who was so ugly she got a job standing outside a doctor's office to make people sick. Your cable company reminds me of that doctor.

I think you are probably right when you say Vegas is not rendering the file again. Try going to Preferences > General > Temporary Files Folder; delete any files there, and try again. Also, try rendering the whole thing to another format, such as mpeg2 - does the commercial show up then?
