I know it is expensive to attend as a vendor, but it would really show folks that MAGIX came to play in the professional world.
The only mention of MAGIX I found at NAB 2017 is a session on "other" NLE platforms. Hopefully many will attend and it could give MAGIX some good exposure.
NLE Independence - Editing Beyond Adobe, Apple and Avid

Then again, perhaps they don't see professional editors as their customer base? Since everyone has 4K cameras built into their phones, perhaps they are focused on the mass market?
Avid came up with some interesting news amongst which :
Media Composer First, a free version of the non-linear editing software that was first announced at NAB two years ago, will also be available in June.2017.
Whilst our vegas upgrade got more expensive since Magix , competitors such as Avid , Blackmagic do offer some free " light " versions ....
just look at resolve 14 - the free version is incredible, and the studio version is $299. vegas has lost me for good.
The only reason I am still on Vegas is the scripting feature. Without it, I would not be able to have to turn around times I need; this is for figure skating competition, individual skater performance videos.
But, for my corporate work, mlticam videos, I am leaning towards FCPX, just have to find the right hardware for it. Resolve is a steep learning curve with it's node based editing.

Looking at Resolve 14's features video earlier today, it looks like that you can add Resolve FX (but not 3rd party FX) directly to the clip/event on the timeline just as can be done with Vegas Pro. But then with VP, all 3rd party FX can be added that way.
Despite having a reasonably good spec'd machine, I found playing 264 clips/events on Resolve 13's timeline to be considerably slower and more jerky than with VP14. BM claim that timeline playback can be up to 10 times faster on 14 than on 13, but I am yet to check that out.
Resolve has some great features, but it is really designed for departmentalised editing which it no doubt does really well. But for ease of use for single-user editing, I find that approach to be rather clunky and inefficient. Vegas Pro is much more efficient in that regard IMO.

There used to be a Free Avid editor software, but it was EXTREMELY limited. Two video tracks only and stuff like that.
NAB's not great timing for VEGAS as it comes at the middle of the annual update cycle.
I am remembered of CES (December) and NAMM (January) yearly cycles where pre-launches and demonstrations are held, with many actual releases later being made at Q1 and Q2.
...So NAB (April) comes as possibly a good time to announce planned new features, associations, or at least, general intentions and objectives for coming releases at Q2 and Q3.
NAB would be an excellent time to release new versions of Vegas...
Sadly for business reasons, we have never been able to adjust the Vegas release schedule to accommodate this, though we have tried. We almost were able to change the schedule for the next version of Vegas , but the new ownership/management change has made that a bit risky. We are working hard on improving a lot of internal systems right now and adding the stress of a new release 4 months earlier than normal would likely have resulted in a poor go-to-market experience and a less-than-stable product.
