NAB Stream is available right now.

Liam_Vegas wrote on 4/21/2004, 11:49 AM
I have just completed uploading the WMV 9 files (190Mb) of the two seminars that we taped, edited and rendered at NAB.

Go to http://www.ImageBEAM.com/nabstream

Once you have viewed the video I do ask you to respond to a quick poll on the site asking for your experience with viewing the video stream. My server <should> be capable of streaming out many hundreds of streams simultaneously but this is my first large <experiment>.

In a day or so I will allow the download of the videos from my site (the two files are 170Mb or so). The video may also be available for download from alternative sites.

Thanks for being so patient.

Now I will be spending a few hours visiting a couple of the other exhibits here at NAB.

This is awesome! I have already learned out to save screen layouts.

Nice!

The DVDA 2.0 Seminar link doesnt seem to work, though I'm looking forward to seeing the V5 one. Just thought I'd give ya a heads up.

Thanks !

typo in the url... fixed it. Thanks

Thanks to those of you who have already responded to the poll on my site. I can already see than many of you are having problems viewing the video stream.

Looks like my server's 100Mbps port is not performing as advertized. by watching the server I cqan see it never gets over 5Mbps... far below what it should be capable of doing. I suspect my hosting company has not enabled something they should have.

I am talking with my hosting provider about this right now.

If I cannot get this fixed soon I will make the change to allow you all to download this later tonight.

Hi Liam, hope you go have fun at the show instead of worrying too much about this! I would post a mirror but have been having trouble getting the files to stream from Playstream. I'm working on it too and will post a link asap. So GO HAVE FUN! People can wait for the stream. :)
GmElliott wrote on 4/21/2004, 12:48 PM
Is it just me or did I see Spot's tell-tale pony tail pass by the screen when the instructor was going over the new features in Track motion. lol
GmElliott wrote on 4/21/2004, 12:49 PM
That would be preferable- I'd love to download the streams.
Liam_Vegas wrote on 4/21/2004, 12:58 PM
What's "Playstream"?

People who responded to the original poll/survey on my site and volunteered to be a mirror have received FTP login instructions to download the files.

If you want to do that send me an email with your email.

That was Gary Kleiner.
GmElliott wrote on 4/21/2004, 1:03 PM
Wow Gary was in the way of the Pan/Crop Demonstration as well! lol

What the heck was he doing- being a teachers aid walking around the room?
Randy Brown wrote on 4/21/2004, 1:25 PM
Sorry Liam, I just tried to upload the V5 seminar to my website but it won't take it. I'm guessing it doesn't like the size of it. I know nothing about "mirroring" or if that would even make a difference but will do what I can if you want to e-mail me privately again (randy at crystalclearnm dot com).

Liam I get an error on that link...just needs all 3 w's.

I just wanted to thank you guys for all the work you've done. I just finished the DVDA2 lesson and am up to speed on the program changes without even having to crack the whitepaper or fork over more $ for a tutorial. Many, many thanks!

If you continue to have problems and would like us to mirror the WMVs on the Sony Media Software server, just say the word.
Rednroll wrote on 4/21/2004, 2:44 PM
Please do that. I have been trying to see the Day 1 Highlights and have been unsuccessful, looked all over the Sony site to see if it was availble there. Tried to download the Vegas 5 Advanced techniques, and got a 11K/sec transfer speed, so it might be time for NAB 2005 by the time I get this one.

Playstream is my media host. Here's your chance to evaluate their service! :)

NAB 2004 Vegas 5 Session

(still working on getting the DVD-A session to work)
busterkeaton wrote on 4/21/2004, 3:40 PM
KSA,

Now that the media software team has Sony behind it, how about some video/flash demo of Vegas 5?

swarrine wrote on 4/21/2004, 3:49 PM
I watched advance users V5, mostly listened actually, however, for users that know Vegas 4 it is good enough. There wasn't anything that I did not understand.
Randy Brown wrote on 4/21/2004, 4:40 PM
I'd like to know how we can make a donation for your efforts guys (and/or be able to buy a DVD of the videos (rendered to NTSC)). This is way beyond the call of duty for a forum member!
Seriously,
Randy

Thanks v. much for the video streams - watched the V5 Advanced one and currently downloading the dvda2 file.

I found the sections on 3D motion/parent child useful, and picked up on the keyboard shortcut to stop the transition box popping open (holding down shift while dropping the transition effect on the event).

Besides which I always find it useful to see the way in which others go about working with an app.
johnmeyer wrote on 4/21/2004, 6:46 PM
Thank you all very much. Quite useful. This took a lot of effort, but it was well worth it.
PeterWright wrote on 4/21/2004, 6:59 PM
Fantastic - thanks to all who made this possible.

The difference between reading about new features and seeing / hearing them demonstarted is huge!

Can't get over that keyboard controlled pitch shift - down to 1/100th semitone!

Can't wait for a singer to sing off key!

OUTSTANDING!!! I just finished watching both of the videos that I downloaded and they are very well done and really have a lot of good information. Thank you very much for all of your hard work in getting this to us. Like Vegas 5 itself, you guys ROCK! ;-)
