Naked Vegas?

Maybe I missed this somewhere along the way but has anyone gotten the Naked Vegas 5 book by Doug Sahlin? I was looking at something audio related and found a link to a chapter called the "Mastering the Vegas bonus plug-ins". It is a free sample of the book and might be of intrest to newbies looking for use of Boris LTD and the Movie Looks for Vegas plugs.

Also a Movie looks before and After sample. (Not too great of a sample IMO)

And a few little vegs, including the oft asked about Star Wars intro.

Other than thses things I don't know anything about this book.

Earlier forum reviews said it was a stinker.

Yeah its a stinker--I was looking at a copy in Borders and it doesn't hold a candle to DSE's books or any of the DVD's out there.

I believe the guy who wrote the book is not a video guy. He is a tech book writer guy who saw an niche in the market.

They seem to have pretty good distribution though. I went to a couple of big Barnes and Nobles in NYC and they all had copies of that, but only one had DSE's Vegas 5 book.

Not a big deal, this book.
And that Star Wars intro... well, you see that in reaaaal cheap commercials now... maybe it's time to get over it... once and for all

yeah, but people still ask how to do it so finding this link I posted it. Plus with the new film just around the corner I don't think it is going anywhere soon.

Nothing personal filmy.
It's just that I think putting a "how to" for this effect in a book in 2005 is a waste of space since there's tons of info about this already on the net.
Same with the "saber effect"...
It's not about your feedback I'm critical (and I'm glad people answer my questions when I have some -silly- ones) , it's about moving on to something new when we pay for a book or magazine or fx plugin.

Forget about it and get Vegas 5 Editing Workshop by Douglas Spotted Eagle.
It's the best book out on Vegas. IMHO.

I assume that this isn't the same book as 'Instant Vegas 5'?

You assume correctly. Two different books.

I'm find NakedVegas5.pdf, but can't find anywhere Vegas 5 Editing Workshop & Instant Vegas.
Can anybody give me a working link for downloading?
Jay Gladwell wrote on 4/9/2005, 4:35 AM

To the best of my knowledge, they are not available for download.

So sad.
Jay Gladwell wrote on 4/9/2005, 5:43 AM

You can order both books here.

That download is only available to .ru domains.

At any rate, if you can freely link to it, I would suspect it's an unauthorized PDF.

maybe this is a very dumb question...
when i downloaded the zip above, how is it i am able to load the VEG in vegas 6 and watch the effect when there is no effect in the pan/crop and no FX appliad...
its as though i loaded a mpg, not a VEG. .where is it pulling the stars and text from?

just curious
thank you
