Name Events?

I have loaded a large media file (spanning several years of 8mm movies) onto the timeline and have now split the original event into several events to reflect the dates of each movie clip in the original file.

In an effort to keep track of these events, I added markers to the time line to describe each event. These markers were placed at the beginning and end of each event.

Now after making several edits to these events (trimming and deleting portions of each event), I find the markers are no longer at the beginnings and ends of each event. I assume that the markers are syncronized to the time line rather than to the event. Therefore, when the event gets trimmed (or moved), the markers are no longer in the right place.

Is there a way to name each event other that using markers? Or, is there a way to syncronize the markers to the beginning and ending of the event rather than to the time line?

Well you see, markers are applied at the timeline level, not the track level, so there is no easy way to "stick" them to specific event locations without rendering.

What you want to do is to rename your active takes (if necessary) and go to View->Display active take information. The names stick with the takes.

Thanks musicvid.

That seems to accomplish what I need. I re-named each "take" box to describe the scene attached to that "take". I assume those "take" tags will stay with each event even if I re-order the sequence of events on the timeline.

I noticed that the original "take" kept track of all the splits I did. The original "take" was VTS_01. After I did the splits, they were automatically re-numbered VTS_01 (01), VTS_01 (02), VTS_01 (03), etc. I just changed the numbers in parentheses to add the verbal description that I needed.

If Rippling is set to 'All Tracks, Markers & Regions' markers do move with content.

In all my years with this program, I had never found that command (or more likely forgot about it).
If everything is on one track, it is useful.
If I move something on another track, it moves the markers unless I turn it off ;?(
Many thanks!
