naming tracks?

for some reason, i am no longer able to name the tracks, whether audio or video...granted i am a newbie, having played with this for little over a week now, but at some point i was able to double click the track and rename it to what i wanted...now, nothing happens, and if i right click and choose rename, nothing happens...any ideas?

Hmmmm.
Is the rectangular area for the name(to the right of the track number)visible?
If no, drag the partition (track header/track view) to the right with the mouse.
If you double click on the rectangle, does it turn white?
