Naming video clips captured from DV camcorder

Is there a way to set custom names for the clips captured from a minidv camcorder tape? Currently they get named what ever you name the tape + Clip number.

I would like them to be named the date of the clip. I would also like the files date to be set to the date of the clip.

Is there anyway to do either of these things? WinDV allows you to name them which makes me think VMS should be able to but I am just overlooking the option.

Scenalyzer is your friend.

Unfortunately I just spent 70$ on VMS hoping it would be a sort of one stop shop for my needs.

Uhh, I've got many times that amount invested in Vegas Pro, which I have used professionally and kept updated for ten years, and I still use Scenealyzer for my DV captures. Best of luck with your "one-stop-shopping."

The sarcasm isn't really necessary when I just asked a simple question if something was possible or not.

That's nice that you are using Vegas Pro professionally, but I am not. I am a home user with less than 20 minidv tapes to capture.

While I appreciate your suggestion to try out Scenealyzer, which doesn't look like it's supported anymore but may still be a good product, there's no reason to be a video editing snob.
