If I understand your question correctly, make sure the little icon in the FX window is depressed that syncs the timeline cursor to the cursor in the FX window (doing this from memory at work, can't remember exact names here.) Then set the focus to the timeline, and use ctrl-alt-left arrow to move the cursor to the beginning of the next event (still in your case), and the cursor in the FX window should be at the same place. Click the "+" for a keyframe, and make your adjustments.
Thanks for your reply. I thought that was the way it is done, but the strange thing is that after I made a keyframe I could not get focus to return to timeline without mouse clicking on the timeline. I discovered that using the key I had set up on Command Post (Alt 0) would not work for some wierd reason, but that if I used Alt 0 from the actual keyboard it worked. Go figure!
