Neat Video and .avi problem

I downloaded the neat video plugin and discovered when I was using the demo that when I import an .avi file only the sound track is heard and no video appears. The demo file to be used doesn't have a sound track but confirmed the problem when trying to import other .avi files that do have sound tracks. Does anyone else have a problem with .avi files?

Using the neat video demo plugin, I applied it to an avi file with sound. The result was an avi file with sound and video. So no, I couldn't reproduce the problem.
When rendering, did you choose the right encoder? (Some encoders render sound only, no video.)

It is probably the well known AVI/Codec problem.
VMSP has not got a codec for some AVI's and mostly you then only get the sound-part - if any.
Pls. search this forum for AVI and codec.

I work much with AVI input and bought the fast and reliable Morgan Multimedia codec (M-JPEG etc) years ago.

They have a free trial - but sometimes its trial period has expired before you download it :-)) - then just mail them.

If it is an avi codec problem,
you may want to install this free codec collection:
