Yep noise reduction done right, well worth the money. Also does deflicker really well.

(Intel 3rd gen i5@4.1GHz, 32GB RAM, SSD, 1080Ti GPU, Windows 10) Not now used with Vegas.

13th gen i913900K - water cooled, 96GB RAM, 4TB M2 drive, 4TB games SSD, 2TB video SSD, GPU RTX 4080 Super, Windows 11 pro

Question to you Neat users. Once a clip has it applied, what is the timeline playback like?

I used Neat in another editor years ago. But I don't show anything low light, or in the dark any more. I do know that Neat will figure out the best/fastest combination of GPU/CPU, which is good. And in that editor timeline playback was smooth once Neat was applied and that clip was rendered on the timeline.

Yes, I know I can download and test on my machine, but the time and rarity of noisy video that I have, I thought I would ask you all that use it in Vegas.

There are big variables involved- how fast is your CPU, GPU and what is the media? I find that on my desktop I can still preview the 8-bit UHD AVC media on an 8-bit full timeline in realtime with Neat applied.

Just checking one of my last projects devoted to processing Neat (but no doubt using the latest 5.6 release but was processed in the previous 5.5.10 build I think it was), timeline performance is good, often starting at around 18 fps but quickly stepping up to a steady 25 fps (4K 25 fps XAVC S video)

@Grazie, I haven't bought it yet. In the other software editor, where I do have it, I guess I could "round trip" a problematic clip, but I like doing everything within one software. I know what it can do. But I rarely have a need for it. I think the last time I used Neat was 8 years ago on a wedding video.

It's weighing the cost as opposed to putting the money into something else I "want" and not necessarily need.

But we are booked to be in Europe Xmas/NY in 24/25 (Amsterdam - Budapest river cruise) so maybe we could work out something then. Hoping so - I'd love to get back to London.

Looks like a version 6 is out, payment required to upgrade to it.

Version 6.0

New render engine for smarter and faster processing

Use of available CPUs and GPUs is enabled by default

Automated optimization of performance settings

Intelligent Adaptation: Neat Video has a built-in automated intelligence system to monitor, analyze and dynamically adjust the performance parameters within an ongoing render process to achieve the best speed in each individual segment of the timeline

New Fast Floating Point Processing mode added and enabled by default;
Full Floating Point Processing remains an option available to Pro users who may need it in VFX, CGI and other similar fields

Added support for new NVIDIA GPUs:

GeForce RTX 50-Series (5090 / 5080 / etc.)

Note: due to changes in NVIDIA drivers and CUDA Toolkit, GPUs with Compute Capability 3.5 are no longer supported; only GPUs with Compute Capability 5.0 and higher can be utilized by Neat Video 6.

CPU- and GPU-specific code has been additionally optimized

Improved load balancing for more efficient use of the CPU and GPU computing resources

Neat Video 6 can now do more work in parallel with the host application, reducing idle time of both and ensuring that the CPU and GPU are better utilized overall

Scrubbing in the host application has been optimized for speed: the plug-in can deliver its processing results faster (allowing the host application to update its preview quicker) when scrubbing jumps in the timeline are small.

Saving memory to handle high resolution easier

Neat Video 6 dynamically varies its memory usage, especially on machines with limited GPU memory, to reduce the chance that the system would throttle, slow down, use the virtual memory a lot, etc.

Neat Video 6 uses a new more economic data format and significantly reduces the amount of RAM and VRAM needed for processing. In some cases, it is up to 2x less than in Neat Video 5. This allows Neat Video 6 to handle higher-resolution projects easier.

More accurate noise reduction with HDR materials

New Input Gain control to prepare video data for optimal processing.
If you work with a mistakenly underexposed or overexposed video, or with a regular HDR video, then correctly adjusting the input gain before profiling and noise reduction can help Neat Video to be more accurate at preserving details while reducing more noise and other imperfections. This gain adjustment is not permanent, it is only used internally by Neat Video 6 during processing and then it is undone once the processing is complete.

The Input Gain control also offers a recommendation to choose the most suitable adjustment value. In the Pro edition, you can also manually adjust it with higher precision.

Improved user interface

Preview performance has been additionally optimized for speed

Added illustrated help dialogs for scan type, gamma and gain controls

Variants now can be used to test different gain adjustments too

Additional guidance to adjust the GPU memory settings in Manual mode (in Preferences > Performance)

Additional indicators of GPU interfaces in Preferences > Performance

Improved Undo/Redo history of changes for noise profiles and presets

Improved About dialog behavior to help the user verify that an updated version of the software has been installed successfully

Changes in product editions and licensing

End-User License Agreement has been updated

Several changes in availability of functions in different editions of Neat Video 6 (see Feature Map in documentation for details)

Customer service from N V is top notch. I had a problem with my old Radeon VII a few years ago and the makers of N V were in constant contact with me concerning my problem. It turned out to be a defective card. ( if I rember i was in contact with Vlad? )

I just updated to version 6. I just tried it and it worked really well. I do not mind supporting company's that stand behind there product like the makers of Neat Video. Good job with Version 6 Neat Video

Does anyone here with Continuum 2025 compared it to BCC+ DeNoise ML?

I've been a long user of the excellent Neat NR though haven't updated to the new release as yet - but I'm very encouraged by the positive reports about it on the forum.

I've just run BCC+ DeNoise ML (BCC 2025) on one of the night-time videos I ran Neat NR on a couple of weeks ago. IMO, there is no comparison - it's chalk and cheese. BCC blurs the image and has little control over how noise reduction is processed. Neat NR has an absolute plethora of controls starting off with the ability to select the area of the image on which noise reduction is going to be based. And then there are many Temporal and Spatial controls - though Spatial not often being needed but it does have optional and very adjustable sharpening controls which sharpen without re-introducing noise.

Neat NR is absolutely brilliant!

If you haven't done so already, try the free trial.

Does anyone here with Continuum 2025 compared it to BCC+ DeNoise ML?

@Reyfox I did some comparison vs BCC+ Denoise on the version of the original poster (so not V6) when the previous version got out, (I used the trial version of Neat). It is obviously a very capable and specialized piece of SW, but somehow I was not impressed by it and the results for full HD video with noise was handled extremely well with BCC. There was also something else I did not like about Neat but I am sorry, I forgot what it was exactly. The advantage of BCC is its simplicity in use and the results are superb. (settings/tuning are limited, Its drop and forget, but that is a blessing and a time saver - I tend to loose time trying various options.

I used BCC+ Denoise not long ago with great success, and if you combine it with BCC-magic-sharp, it is even better.

If you already have Continuum 2025, I personally see no reason to get this sw. The money is better spend for another year of BCC updates...

That being said I did NOT compare it with version 6, which maybe a miracle in speed and quality. Best to try before you buy I guess.

The only thing wrong with BCC is that it is extremely slow. But I bypass it with a dedicated script that looks for BCC in all the events that use it and deactivates the plugins, so that editing is not impacted (see script below: NoSlowFX) ..

Another script activates the BCC+ Denoise on all events that have it before render (see script below: SlowFX) .
