Need a sweeping effect

I have two duplicate video tracks, one above the other.

I have a dark red color correction on the lower track, and I want to do a "sweep" from right to left to reveal the effect.

End result is you see a normal color video, then it changes from right to left dark red and ends with the whole track dark reddish.

I would think it would be the cookie cutter you would use, but for example the rectangle one is too small, and when I make it larger, it still doesn't do what I'm wanting.

Is there something simple I just don't get yet??

Try wiping the top track off (Use wipe transistion)

Put both tracks on the same level then drag the red one over the normal. This will create a dissolve of whatever length you wish. Then convert the dissolve to a linear L to R wipe.

You can also place the red clip above the normal clip on the timeline and use the fade option on the upper track to accomplish the effect you want. Right click the fade line and choose the fade type you want.

Edit: Fade option: Place the mouse marker at the upper right / left corners of the upper clip. Then you se “Fade offset <number>”. Drag to the left / right to gradually se more / less of the underlying clip.

You know what I think would look even better?
Since you already masked him out, this would be easy

3 tracks.

One track of him black and white
One track of just him red.
One track of the background uncorrected.

This reveal just him as red and I think would have your audience wondering how you did that. For some reason, him changing color, but not his environment works better for me.
