need creative inspiration.....

I'm working on a commercial - with very few assets (basically going to be done with voice-over, graphics, animation, music, audio FX).

The opening starts with the the voice-over saying "Tired? Worn-out? Need a boost?"

I'm looking for ideas on how to represt this in an amusing/appropriate way with some basic features in Vegas if possible.

My ideas are to simply use text and to animate/move the text in a way that reflects what is being said.

Problem is... coming up with a way to represent this without needing to resort to "real" animation (e.g. 3D Studio etc etc).

I have Graffiti (full version) and there are various effects that can be applied character-by-character so I've been looking at this (I think I can get something half-way decent). I've also been working with ULEAD Cool 3-D and I can do something in that which creates some motion in the text to make it look tired...and worn out.... BUT still... I think what I am generating looks a little too cheesy.

Anyone have any other suggestions on how I might better do this? Using FX's in Vegas?

Thanks for any help.

For the text, what about a second, duplicate layer that is fairly transparent, and as each "tired" word hits, the text 'bends' and is 'droopy' along with maybe some threshold thrown in to slightly tear up the text, giving it a raggy look. A small amount of 3D planing might add to the effect. Then potentially use Gaussian Blur to dismiss it from the screen, leading into the next word..

I was thinking of using a yellow smiley face that represents each mode you're telling. You'd need a picture editing prgoram (ie paint) but that shouldn't be a problem.

You could do it in V5 with biezer masks but I think it would be easier in paint to make the faces.

If you wanted an "animated" look about them, draw each expression as 3 frames, each slightly off. When played back (maybe at 1/2 speed?) it will look "wiggly." & neat.

Try the deform FX with key framing combined with 3D. Depending on the tone of the commerical you could have the words wobble, or fall over with a thud. For need a boost I'd make the word a little fat as if its perking up,maybe jump a bit. If you're going to sync with a voice off you don't have a lot of time unless the text remains on screen after.

Tell us the type of product, without reveiling the name. It sounds like another "Male" enhancement product, so far. Or No-Doze.

SMASHING project! Loads of ideas here in London!

.. can I do it - Plleeese?!?!?

Text is terrriffic ..

Have a word "screaccchhhh .. " to a stop .. either by whole word or letter by letter . .

* Have letter by letter drop into place like water tortue - builds tension

* HAve d r ea m y leters float in a relaxed way into position - sound of a male or female sighing into the "feeeell" of the movement

* Use BG colours ways to enchance atmoshphere - Cool blues . .HOT reds . . fun-PINKs . . .ACID greeens .. yeah? Add Giggles and laughter . .

I'd also use lots of "found" sounds.

* Footsteps.

* Stretching

* Explosions

* Cuckoos

* Express Trains

Now on the Media side there is a ton of stuff that you could use:

* Night to Day tracks of the Sun

* The Moon coming up and over . ..

. .. .

OK! - Basics

* What is it to be sold?

* What's its TArget?

* When is it to be sold?

* What is supposed to be achieved?

* HOW long!

* Why were you approached?

.. . er email me . . . NOW!

Great project! Great opportunity!

Grazie

Liam,

Can you get hold of a Basset hound or similar droopy faced dog and then see if you can shoot some funny video of the dog's face? Then just add the voice over and skip the word animation.
