Need hardware recommendation

I want to capture video from VHS tapes and edit them in Vegas. I have a 1394 card already installed. What would be the best hardware out there that is compatible with Vegas? I have a device called PCTV by Pinnacle Systems that does the trick, but it is low quality (connects to computer via USB and doesn't capture in DV), it is mainly for watching TV on your computer, but it will work for what I want to do. Any suggestions or help is much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi Ahs10:

I'm fairly new to video editing and Vegas. I purchased the Canopus ADVC-100 based on what I read from previous posts on this forum. I can capture from just about any device with the Canopus such as my VHS player, DVD player, and my Camcorders ( both digital and analog). Very campatible with Vegas too.... hope this helps a little. You may want to check out the Canopus website at www.canopus.com

Do you have a camera that connects to the PC via firewire that will pass through the signal? If yes, all you need to do is hook up the VHS to the camera and let it convert it. Otherwise a device like the Canopus mentioned would work well.
