I'd like to make a crash or bug video about V11 .. I've been looking for a bug or crash scenario that I can reproduce in a screen capture video. I need clear instructions on how to reproduce the bug or crash. Any help would be appreciated. Or if someone has already done one, point me to it.

Not sure what this will accomplish. Actually I think I spent too much time doing these, just to hear them acknowledge the bug and ignore it and then trying to sucker me into purchasing the upgrade that doesn't have the fixx. OMG give me a break... purchase an upgrade just for bug fixes? I'll wait for Vegas 12. (:

IMHO, Bug vids don't need to be fancy. If you want to make something simple like this, I just used AVIScreen Classic.

The ZoomIt app would have made it a little easier to view the menus.

I'm sure this is a result of the thousands of reports SCS gets and they are unable to separate the wheat from the chaff.

What we need is a special code or special place to submit our bug reports that indicate, "SCS, pay special attention to this report - this guy (or gal) knows what they're talking about."

Byron,

Which free utility for recording a program activity (best in 1080p, with voice over) could you recommend? Aviscreen Classic seems to lack a voice support...

Piotr,
You can try the free version of BB FlashBack.

Quick and simple way, just point your camera at your monitors. This may not be what you want but its fast and you can physically point and talk about things.

Thanks Willem,

I was going to use my nanoFlash, but with the BB application functioning OK, I can see it would be overkill and unnecessary hassle for my Moldflow demos and tutorials :)

For me, I just record voice overs into a Roland R9 then drag and drop the recording onto the Vegas timeline.

Audacity is a good free open source audio recording app to record audio.

Willem, Thanks for the BB Flashback suggestion. I just tried the free Express version and it works well! It takes a little while to render but quality is pretty good!

@Byron K

I recall watching your bug-report screencasts and always get a chuckle from your "special surprise", which I won't spoil for other viewers.

btw: I've had success using the SnagIt screencast feature. I mostly use SnagIt to capture images, but it also includes an nice, but somewhat limited-feature ability to capture screencasts.

There is a free Screenpresso (but I have not used it for video capture).
Also take a look at Screen Capture Studio
