Hi

I recorded a gospelconcert today and the audio is somewhat distorted at some places. Is there a way to make it better?

Here is a small file:

I have tried several non real time effects, but not sure which one could be used. I know there will not be any mirracles, but just a tiny bid better would be nice :)

Thanks in advance.

Ulf,
If you have Sound Forge, try 'Clipped Peak Restoration' under 'Tools'.
I did, and it gives you a good starting point...

I actually found one in Vegas that I found ok - the Multi Band Dynamics and the "Reduced Loud Plosives".

If you have access to a clipped peak-restoration process, which 'may' yield a slight improvement, attenuating (EQ'ing) the low-mid frequencies somewhat (around100-400Hz.) may bring out some clarity and make the 'mud' less noticeable. A HF exciter may also help bring out some air.. but beware of applying too much.

Thanks Rick, I tried the peak-restoration in SF, but it did not work as good as the one I found inside Vegas - I might have put the wron parm. into it though.
