NEED HELP! ON CLIP NAMING IN CAPTURE MODE

tailgait wrote on 6/19/2005, 1:37 PM
When I go to capture clips in capture mode in V5xx the little box where I can input a name for the clip does not come up and all my clips are therefore named "unknown." I have tried re-setting to my defaults, but that doesn't do it. Anyone know how to get that little sucker back up again? TIA

if nothing else you can watch for them as they appear in the clip bin and name them there, or just make new folders in your clip bin for each section and do it that way. As for why it doesn't come up would probably be an option set somewhere, and I have no idea where that is. Sorry.

I just capture away and then rename later. I use CompuPic to rename all the clips in a folder, fast and easy. Select the first clip, shift click the last clip to select the group and press Okay to rename all the clips to whatever you setup. It can start at any number and rename sequentially. Such as setting up

MyClips ###.avi

and tell it to satrt at 1. It then instantly renames all the files as MyClip001.avi thru whatever you have selected.

Google search for similar apps and free apps.Winodws Explorer can do it too, but it always names the first clip without a number.

I've heard Scenalyzer is a bit more robust. I never capture footage, I only output animation/bumpers and such. This sounds very strange... anyone have any suggestions?

Is that because you are capturing with device control disabled? The clip names get their "base name" from the tape name. You get to set the tape name when you insert a new tape (and Device Control is enabled).

I've often wanted to be able to set a "dummy" tape name when capturing with device control disabled... as I hate the extra step of renaming once I have captured.
