Need help with BD authoring

I can't seem to be able to author a menu-based BD using Sony Architect Pro 5.2. I have no problem making a single BD movie but

with menu-based, it would stuck at %1 render for a while then return with this error:

"Warning: An error occurred while writing a file."
"Error 0x8004e02c (message missing)"

If I were to change the project properties to "make DVD" instead of "make Blu-ray" then it would compile fine after going through recommpression. Here is my work flow:

Files rendered from Vegas 10D using MainConcept MPEG-2 templates:

= Blu-ray 1920x1080-60i, 25 MBps video stream
(29.970 fps, 1920x1080 Upper field first, YUV, 25 Mbs, Pixel aspect ratio: 1.0)

Dolby Digital AC-3 Pro (256 Kbps, 48Khz, 24 Bit, Stereo, AC3)

Importing into Sony Architect 5.2:

Video: xxxx.m
Audio: xxxx.ac3

Project properties:

Disc format: Blu-ray disc
Target media size(GB): 25

Video defaults

Video format: MPEG-2
Bit rate (Mbps): 25.000
Aspect ratio: 16:9
Resolution: 1920x1080
Frame rate: 29.970 interlaced
Progressive: No

Audio defaults:

Audio format: AC-3 Stereo
Bit rate (Kbps): 448

I have tried another computer with same result and really need your help. Thanks in advance.

Have you ensured that you have at least 20-30 gigs of free, clean, defragmented space on your C drive?

Are you editing on your C drive or to a second hard drive?

If to a second drive, have you ensured that it is formatted NTFS and not FAT32, as they come from the factory?

It's quite possible that your program is having trouble finding large chunks of free, contiguous space to work with. FAT32 drives, for instance, choke on large files. Fragmentation can also cause huge processing operations, such as transcoding hi-def video, to choke.

Steve, thanks for replying...

I am editing on my 2nd drive (2TB, NTFS) and yes, there are plenty of spaces on both drives. As an experiment, here is what I just did:

1. Open DVDA, Select File --> Menu-based option.
2. Without inserting any media file, change Properties to DVD format.
3. Click "prepare" within seconds, it is done.
4. Now, change Properties to Blu-Ray format.
5. Click "prepare". It now rendered to 40%. Stuck for 5 min then come back with same error.

I must be missing something very basic here..

I have had my PC hang at times over similar issues. One of the problems
is a heat build up if my PC is on to long as I am in a attic space with no AC.
Also I have many processes running in the background - 40 or so - which can cause problems. I do keep up on my defrag and have a program called End It All that can terminate the background processes to counter any problems there.
Do you have a healthy amount of RAM?
You could try a short, basic BD with a different set of settings and see what happens that way.
There may be a conflict with your virus scanner and or Trojans, viruses.
I run Malware Bytes and Better Privacy to control Flash Scripts via Firefox.

In general it is a good idea to list your system specs.

I do not have a BD writer yet but hope soon I can afford one.

Hope you get it figured out.
