Need help with DVDA burning problem...

I recently got an HP 300i burner. Burned a disk with multiple chapters. Within DVDA everything seems to run fine in preview. Once burned, DVDA claims that everything burned ok.

Here's my problem. When I play the disk in my TV top player or even with my ATI computer DVD player, the DVD works ok up to a certain point and then freezes. For example, with the 12 chapters that I have on the disk, the first 6 play fine and then it locks up. I can't even go directly to chapter 7.

Now here's the weird part. If I use NERO to burn a disk with the very same files that DVDA created, all is ok.

Is this a bug with DVDA using 4X burners? Why would the resulting DVD files work fine when buring from NERO, but not DVDA?

Please help.

Is it a DVD+r or DVD+rw that you used? The DVD+rw's I burn with DVDA won't play on the DVD-ROM drive in my computer. PowerDVD starts up, and then just hangs.
It does play ok on the HP300i though.

The DVD+r's I burn work on both drives.

For testing purposes I use a DVD+RW before finalizing it to a DVD+R.

Be aware that my HP300i is a replacement of the 200i, which worked fine.

As for the problem I'm now experiencing, the strange thing is that the RW's play for a bit and then stop in ALL players, computer players AND stand alone TV top players.

As you probably know, DVDA creates a Hard drive version of all the files before it burns a DVD. It's those files that I tested a burn using DVD+RW with NERO, and all problems stopped.

In view of what's been happening, it seems to me that DVDA is having a problem burning with my HP 300i.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar to this? Is there a fix other than resorting to using NERO or something similar?

I'm having a problem with DVD-A and 4x burns but it's not related to the symptoms you are experiencing. My drive is a Sony DRU-500A.

If I burn a 4x +R disc using DVD-A, the tray ejects at the end of the burn and a message box telling me all went ok pops up. But, the tray will not retract under power from this point! Press the button on the drive - nothing. Start an application that accesses the drive - drive not ready error. Reboot the machine - the tray retracts during startup and then everything's ok. The weird part is - this doesn't happen with lower speed media. 2.4x +R, +RW, 1x -R, 2x -R, RW all seem fine, leaving my drive usable at the end of the process. I haven't tried 4x -R's yet simply because I haven't found any locally.

Burning the folders using another app (RecordNow DX) onto 4x +R's works fine. It does suggest that there's something "not quite right" with the burn engine......?

I have the same problem with my Sony DRU 500a not retracting the tray at the end of a burn session. It is basically lifeless until I reboot. My drive has the latest firmware update and this is the only program that causes it so I am assuming its something on DVD Architects side. I am using 4x dvd+r media

Have you tried upgrading to the newest version? It was just posted yesterday.
