Need help with new installation

I've been using Vegas since version 4 but am new to Movie Studio.

About the same time I purchased a new computer my wife acquired a Sony CX550v camera for casual use and "B" roll on some of our shoots. We opted to replace Vegas 4.0 (on the old computer) with Movie Studio on the new; it isn't used heavily and Vegas Pro 10.x seemed like overkill. Movie Studio seemed like a good choice for editing the CX550 output.

Computer:

Intel Core i7-950
12GB ram
GTX 470
Windows 7 Professional (64 bit)

Two problems:

1) If I try to import .m2t files the program crashes, giving me the error message that the system is low on memory; or it just crashes. My guess is that this may not have anything to do with Movie Studio -- i.e., not a "bug" -- but rather with something awry in the way I've set things up.

2) So I tried importing the camera files using Neoscene. I'm able to import files from the camera and convert them to .avi without any trouble. But when I do this and bring the files into Movie Studio there's no audio.

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I'm going nuts trying to deal with this!

This thread should get you going:

You didn't mention rendering yet, but there is "rendering crash" thread for 64-bit PCs using VMS, do a search to find it if you run into that problem.

Many thanks for the info. I'll give it a try in the a.m.
