Need help with "PIP" or "Split Screen" video

I am having problems creating the video effects that I want while trying to combine two video streams. I have two different camera angles recording the same event simultaneously, and I'm trying to to a picture in picture or a split screen effect. I tried using a freeware script to do a picture in picture, but it looked pretty shoddy.

I also tried using the crop/pan feature to do a split screen. The problem I am having is getting the object that I recorded centered in both streams of video. In other words, I can drag one video stream to the right side, and both video streams are visible, but I can't center the object in either video stream - its cutting off the object. I hope this makes sense. I'd really like to have a professional split screen look...any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Crop the clip as desired using Pan/Crop.

Resize and position the clip as desired using Track Motion.

In other words, the PIP is done not with Pan/Crop, but with Track Motion.
