Need help with render as

1) When i try to render as MPEG (1 or 2) there is a kind of hiss in soundtrack but if select audio layer 1 mode in custom dialog box the noise is stopped. Is this a problem with encoder and layer 2? what is the difference between layer 1 and 2 ?
2) I tried to render as Avi a short project (25 sec) that took a long time to create a 120 Mo avi file !!!(using current default setting)
I'm surpised by the size and processing time. In this project i used Heroglyph plugins to create animated texts, when i look the avi there is a trailing phenomene during letters movement (same project rendered as mpeg have not this problem). Any suggestion about settings to prevent this problem ?
3) Last thing : to extract the audio part of mpeg file i delete the video track and then i render as wave file, but when i name the destination wave file Vegas keeps an internal name SP0000.wav ! some ideas about this problem ?
Thanks in advance for help.

3) You are saving as a "Scott Studios" WAVE file. Use "Microsoft WAVE" instead.

Given Kelly's answer to #3, are you using NTSC DV for #2, and if not, what ARE you using as the template?
