Set the compositing mode of track one to Multiply (Mask). If you're using Vegas 5 you should also add the Mask Generator effect.

That should do it.

I forget, is that necessary in Vegas 4? It's not in 5.

If you are using multiply mask, isn't it necessary to make your text white on black for the multiply to work properly? At least, if you want the video to be unaltered? Or am I mistaken?

Here's what I've got so far.

Track 1: Transparent Text. compositing mode: alpha, parent compositing mode: multiply
Track 2: Vision Series. compositing mode: alpha
Track 3: Video Clip. compositing mode: alpha

Now, what I'm getting everything transparenting all over eachother, the transparent text has a blue BG that shows in track 3, the Vision Series is running through into the Track 3, etc

What am I doing wrong?

Did you mention whether you were using V4 or V5?

Are you using Vegas version 4 or Vegas Version 5? In V5 make track 2 a Child of Track 1 . ..
