At the top of the track motion window there are 4 buttons to prevent scaling or movement. Try them out.

Thanks. Not sure if I got this right though -- do you mean the buttons on the right for properties, editing tools, snapping, lock aspect ratio, etc.?

I don't have any buttons on the right. What version of Vegas are you using?

Nope. Those are the settings in the Pan/Crop window.
The Track Motion button is in the Track Header which is on the left side of each track (the thing with number 1, 2, etc.). It's the icon between Bypass Motion Blur and Track FX.

Reading your initial question though, do you want to crop (i.e. cut off part of) the clip or simpy squeeze it down?
If it's the former, then Pan/Crop is the right tool. If it's the latter though, then Track Motion is the tool you want.
BTW, Track Motion is covered in the help menu if you're still unsure.

nickle, sorry I meant on the left.

I click on the track motion icon in the track header and I still see those buttons on the left.

I will need to squeeze this clip down and possibly crop it a little too. It's a picture in a picture type of thing from a multi-camera shoot. It's set up right now as picture in a picture in the lower right corner. All I need to do is adjust it a little but any changes I make to the track motion don't affect it.

You may be adjusting the wrong keyframe. Make sure you're on the correct keyframe before making your adjustments.

For example, if you have 4 keyframes and what you want to adjust is between 3 and 4, if you adjust keyframe 2 then nothing will happen. If you adjust keyframe 4, nothing will happen. If you adjust keyframe 3, you will be adjusting that section.

I'm getting suspicious now. Are you using Vegas Movie Studio?

In my pan/crop window I have the properties etc. that you mentioned. Even so, there is a button at the bottom (the last one) which allows you to constrain movement to up/down/ or left/right or move freely.

There are no buttons on the top.

But "track motion" has the buttons on top as I mentioned.

Thanks, it was the keyframing. Working fine now.

nickle,
Forgot to answer you. I am using Vegas 4 and the buttons Iwas referring to are on the left side toward the top.
