Need legal help on "Star Spangled Banner"...

I'm taping a HS graduation to sell, and I'm getting clearance on the music (if I don't get clearance then I will just put somethig else in there!, but I already got clearance on "Pomp and Circumstance"). But, I've searched for copyright info on the "Star Spangled Banner", and can only find some guy who did a arrangement in 2002 on a CD.

Is that song in the public domain, and anyone can sing/record it (w/o using someone's arr. of course) ?

Thank for the help!

I don't see why not. It is old enough to be.

ok. Thanks. One more song to clear. :) Only cost me $0.10 per DVD for "Pomp and Circumstance." Hopefully the other song (which I don't know yet) will be affordable too!

thanks again john!

Of course you have to have whomever plays/sings it, release you...

No copyright holder on Star Spangled Banner, only a release is needed for the performer. Only recorded versions can be copyrighted, as to their arrangement and master.

That'll be no problem for the singer (she's a friend).
