need optimum settings for PAL DVD

when rendering an edited avi from dv camcorder, what settings can be changed from the standard PAL DVD template to give the best possible quality mpeg2 for burning to DVD

The settings on the template should be fine , other than adjusting the bitrates to get the best/efficient encode to fill your disc the only other thing you might consider would be chnaging the DC coefficient to 10bit rather than the default 9bit if you have very complex footage.
