Need to add a voice over track

Hello again, I have a project to which I need to add a voice over in several places. I have a USB microphone and cannot seem to find where I need to go to set the record device in Vegas. In Sound Forge 6 Studio I have done it and recorded some voice there. However when I "Arm" the Audio Track for recording nothing happens because I believe Vegas cannot see my microphone. I cannot seem to find anything in the book or the online help on this so I'm posting it here.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Go to Options > Preferences > Audio device and make your selection.

This is one way of "doing" this.

Try an old time method.

Put "draft" video onto VCR player - stay with me on this, really!
Set up your cammy looking at yourself
Use your cammy mic, whatever it is, plugged into the cammy
Go record on cammy
Go play on VCR - of course turn the sound off!
Use the VCR as a way to Cue your V/O.
Record V/O to cammy
Finish all parts of V/O
Import the V/O work back into your V4 project
Lay the V/O track down and you can now use all the tools to synch/split/copy etc etc.

At the end of the day, you'll use that which is easiest for your own working methods.

I offer this method as a possible way to get away from the PC; have a "faultless" way to V/O; knock out any device clash - any good?

Sometimes when we have ALL the tools, we may choose NOT to use them . . .

Any good?

. . . of course you don't need to go to the VCR. You could just play your project in V4 and record the V/O onto the cammy . .
