Need to get HD video into my computer.

I just got a client who's got an hour of footage he shot on a Panasonic AJHDC27. It's HD all the way (it retails for $55k).

The camera does not have firewire so I'm in complete new territory. I have no clue how to get the ones and zeros off his camera and into my hard drive. I'm not even sure what you call the connectors on the side of his camera.

All I've been able to find in my research is a DV bridge that converts HD to DV - but then you loose qualitly. I want to maintain the HD quality.

Any info or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Matt

You'll have to find someone with an Aja or other HD capable card, have them capture it, and store it on a portable harddrive.
I'd still recommend converting a second stream entirely to DV, editing, and then replacing the DV media with the HD media.

If you end up with an HD capable card, you'll need to invest in a large hard drive as well. Uncompressed HD is a lot larger than DV

Can VV work with uncompressed HD?

it can -- and it does ...

but as mentioned by spot ... you edit via a proxy and swap out for render ...
