Need to make space on HD

I'm having a ball with Vegas and a Sony Dual Format Burner.
I would like to make room on my hard drives by storing the unedited movie clips as .avi files (so it would be uncompressed) on DVD's (as Data, I guess) but My SonicDVD doesn't seem to make data dvd's. I am sure there is an easy solution to this.

How do others make room on their HD's?

All my footage is from DV. Vegas' capture has the ability to store the addresses of clips from tape in a file (a batch capture list). I always use batch capture and keep the BCL in the project folder with the .VEG files and any "funky" stuff I may have created along the way (like Cool 3D titles and such). After I've finished editing, I make a master copy of the finished work to tape, then recompress for DVD or whatever. The original clips are deleted at this point - the batch capture list is all I need to recover the clips from the source tapes if I need to re-edit. I can usually fit a number of projects on a CD this way.

Take a look at Nero 6 http://www.ahead.de
It will let you burn 'data discs' on DVD blanks.

Thanks, all. I also realized with SonicMyDVD I can open DVD's made with Sonic. I thought it was compressed, but properties tab says no.
