Just an idea:

I assume you want to keep from rendering to MPG2 again, thus the save a few hours remark.

I would think you could render the project again to AVI, with the chapters, and use tht SFL file.

AVI is a whole lot faster to render than MPG2.

Just a thought...

If you want to make the process even faster you could probably mute all the video tracks. You'll end up with a black AVI file, but you probably didn't want it anyway.

If you still have the original project with the markers intact, try the script at Sundance that creates the SFL file based on those markers. The actual script name is: wil_mksfl.js

Now that's what I call time saving - Thankyou jet, it took me a while to find the script under the thousands of scripts posted.
