Use the INSERT TIME option.

Use Dave's Insert Time suggestion, or

- R-click on your first event, choose "select events to end" (sorry if that's not the exact wording). If Groups is enabled, this will select grouped audio and video tracks. If you have multiple tracks, you'll need to control-R-Click each one.

-I think Control-A (select all) would work as well.

Insert time is the best answer here.

Next bet is to drag any of the first clips over and then hit ctrl+shift+f to ripple the rest of the events and marks over with it. That's a very good thing to commit to memory.

Control-A selects everything and then you could just drag it over. Select Events to end can work too but it's not as efficient.

Jetdv's Tsunami tool has a script that adds a lot of nice variations on the "Select Events To End" front. Select events to beginning is one of them.

Watch out about grouping all those events. When you ungroup them all you really ungroup everything. Audio comes unlocked from video when you do that.
