I'm just watching to see what transpires on this subject before going to NEO.

I'm using Neo HDV without any problems. It seems to work with (and smart-render) clips captured with ConnectHD just fine.

Are you saying that you have clips captured with NEO HDV and HDLink on the same timeline?

Serena is having problems with that mix but Laurence is not?

Laurence, do you notice anything different using the NEO to capture? Faster conversion? anything else noticable?

Everything looks the same except that there are more quality options, and you now have both avi and mov wrapper options.
David Newman wrote on 5/21/2007, 11:33 AM
And more capture options : Decklink HDSDI and HDMI, and AJA Xena capture, and an even higher quality codec. Otherwise NEO HDV is the next verison Connect HD.

Serena,

Sounds like you have bigger issue outside of NEO to Connect differences. NEO is completely compatible will all CineForm HD encodings going back 4 years. The only other difference is NEO products are for SSE2 CPUs not, older MMX only class systems : Pentium 3 and Alpha XP. Dropping older CPUs boths help stability and improves performance for new systems.

Dan,
Probably I should be an Apple user because I don't know a lot about computers and only want them to do my job. The machine I tried NEO on is a Uniprocessor AMD Athlon XP2800+ and behavior on that was distinctly "fail". My main machine has an AMD 64 2x 4800+. I was thinking that NEO required Vista but didn't see that when I read through "required system".

Hi,
try to remove NEO & ConnectHD completely from your system and then reinstall NEO. I got similar symptoms while upgrading ConnectHD from 3.3 to 3.4 (or something like that). It was solved by complete reinstall.

Otherwise your system looks fine for NEO (no Vista requirement, I'm running XP).

Thanks Mre, for the re-assurance.

Cineform Support gave me detailed instructions to remove all traces of Connect HD (as you suggest) and now NEO seems to be working very well. Next is the buy the upgrade for my 2nd machine.
Laurence wrote on 5/22/2007, 5:34 AM

If you install and uninstall the demo on your 2nd computer, you'll still have the new codec. You just have to use the one machine for capture and VDub stuff.

Is there any discount for a second license? There should be some kind of a deal for those of us who regularly use two computers. And no, I don't want to bother with the unregister/reregister thing.

>>discount?<<<<

Don't think so! At least, I don't know about it, if there is.
