I'm going to ask this question again. I'm hoping there's someone out there who readily knows this. I've read a bit and no one else is having the problem so either I'm out of touch (possible) or somethings missing. I have a new canon 5d. Lovely camera lovely pictures. files copy and playback on my box just great both video and sound. But vegas 9e will not accept these files saying I need to purchase quick time. Really? My other vegas friends say no! WEVA friends in Austin say no but they don't have a 5D. Well that's as far as I seem to get.
So joining the crowd I bought cineform Neo Scene. They advertise easy access to the 5D. This must be the answer. OK, converts the files just great. But 1) it can't find the sound and 2) it doesn't know the frame rate. Playback in vegas has no audio. Now I've been with Vegas since version 5. Feels like I understand this NLE pretty good. Have a small but loyal clientele I've got a reasonably fast computer with memory etc but why can't I edit quicktime? Didn't it work in 8? Don't remember. It won't even load on the timeline on 9. and why doesn't cineform find the sound.? This isn't' a serious issue yet but its gonna be. So I go on the forum searching searching searching for all the stuff on quicktime and I see people are editing it with some playback issues. Did they buy it I wonder. Cineform is in wide use but I'm not reading others are having this problem. I get on the Cineform tech blog and can't find it. Am I looking in the right place I wonder.
I'm tired and feeling its time to abandon this to the young men. So I'm going to turn to the experts here. whatisthis? Is this a trivial subject?
Thanks if you're out there.
