Nesting In Vegas ?

Richard AKA RBartlet Has shown how you can open one instance of vegas. Use satish Plugin to frameserve Then open another Instance of Vegas to edit with a clean slate. Import frameserved instance. Then Perhaps repeatedly do this for as many NESTS =Frameserved Vegas Instances as you want.

Hey Presto Vegas does Nesting ?

All the conditions I put on Nesting being of some use to me. are fulfilled. Doing it Richards way(RBartlett)... However I still do not think I would use this idea very often. But its nice to Know its there.

Nice ONE Richard

zipphead,

a) Vegas is a contender right now.

b) I've never ever seen you 'defending' Vegas, so I guess it must have a long life ahead of it.

Im not trying to defend ZippY bUT Why do people respond to his posts ? He must be entertaining. People queue to match Wits with him. But surely this is all a bit Childish This is supposed to be a forum for helping each other learn more about our FAV Program. To Knock Zippy means you join him on his level. Therefore you cant knock him for being the same. If this Forum is to continue and not turn into a Dumping Ground for Teenage 40 somethings then I think we should get back to learning our Fav Program and get ready for V5. I also believe this Forum is one Way Vegas attracts more custom which therefore Improves Vegas.

Just one more thing. IS this not what a Troll would want to turn everything off topic and into self destruction.

Moral of Story: DO NOT LET ZIPPY ENDORSE VEGAS!

Mark

I still don't think you appreciate the advantages of nested sequences. The frameserving routine would require that you render then reimport back to the original project.

With nested timelines it's just a matter of clicking on the tab to open another timeline, making a change, then returning to the main timeline where the change is already in the single clip which represents the nested timeline.

Zippy is CORRECT!

While it is possible in Vegas to frameserve to simulate nested timelines (and to create sublips and see them in the explorer window) these techniques are workarounds that require more steps than the real thing. One of the thing that I like in Vegas compared to other products is that I can do most things in one or 2 click where in other apps I would click 7-8 times.
Why not have nested timelines and subclips 1-2 click away.... I think a lot of people would use it if it was there...
Don't get me wrong, I still think working wih several copies of Vegas open at the same time is great, but this AND nested timelines+subclips would make Vegas immensly powerful. The frameserver is nice but i'd rather use it to frameserve to another app (which works great) than to simulate nested timelines...

Do you really think that anyone views multiple instances of Vegas as a poor man's nesting? Nah.

It's a poor man's mutliple timelines but it doesn't really amount to nesting.

It isn't really an awful work around either. It just is what it is. Actually a nice feature but no real substitute for multiple separate timelines in a project nor for nested timelines.

I don't think I'd worry too much about Vegas right now. It's gonna be just fine.

Man! If the dump thread wasn't a troll I don't know what is!

You're right, of course. It doesn't help to taunt trolls.

And my hope with a nested timeline is that once you close it back up it can just start rendering in the background.

I'll second that Rob!

Peter from what you say then I agree with you :) I still think this is a GREAT Workaround Considering We/ Me Started with no way to nest a project and now we have One.
