net framework 1.1 or 2.0?

I had some corrupt files in WinXP so have reinstalled the os and am about to reinstall vegas 4.0. Do i need to install both of these or just the older or the newer one? I want to use scripting.

I have had some issues with .net 2.0 only, not XP SP-2. I went back to .net 1.1 with update and then had no issues. It's been awhile and I can't remember what they were but it was darn annoying.

I also had issues with 2.0, I can't seem to make norton ghost 9 work with 2.0 but it works fine (and requires) 1.1.
