.net help?

Help me. I'm going CRAAAAAAAAAZY!

I've installed and uninstalled .net and vegas about 8 times now in an assortment of orders and all I get for my troubles is this message when I try to run a script. Same damn message for the past two months, no matter what I try. I even went into the registry and wiped any mention of vegas or .net and it didn't help.

____________-
Two different copies of MSCOREE.DLL have been loaded.

First copy:
-unknown-

Second copy:
C\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v1.14322\mscorwks.dll

This is typically caused by having a registered mscoree.dll that is different from the one that is statically linked with the application.

The scripts worked when I had .net 1.0something loaded but then I uninstalled that when I had some computer bugs. I then installed 1.1 and nothing has been working right since.

I've since uninstalled 1.1 and tried to get 1.0 installed and working right and it still gives me a "Please install .net message in Vegas.

Please help me. I don't think I wanna live without scripts. It just isn't the type of life I saw myself living as a little kid. :)

Thanks

Steph

Ouch... Hopefully Vegas 5 will alleviate your problems (but please note that Vegas 5 requires .net 1.1).

If you want to stick with Vegas 4 for now I'd suggest the following:

1) Uninstall both .net and Vegas
2) Install .net (either 1.1 or 1.0)
3) Install Vegas.

With Vegas 4, just make sure you install Vegas after .net.

Sony epm, I wanted to install .net so that I could use Wax2.0 w/VV4.0. Should I un-install VV4.0 before I install .net, or is it OK to install it on top of 4.0?. Does this problem only apply if you're going to install 5.0 ?

Sony, I'd really like an answer to this question. If I want to install .NET using Vegas 4.0-currently installed-, should I un-install, and then re-install it after installing .NET ? Also, there must be a number of you out there who've installed .NET over 4.0 to install WAX2.0, what's been your experience ? Any problems ?

You should not need to uninstall and reinstall Vegas 4 unless you use scripts
and they stop working after you install .net.

I'm afraid I do not have any other simple ideas. As far as I know, if
people have had problems with scripts when they installed Vegas 4
before .net, uninstalling and reinstalling Vegas has done the trick.

I have never actually been able to reproduce the problem myself.

It sounds like your .net installations / uninstallations went
bad somehow. I would not be surprised if no .net apps work on your
machine... not just Vegas.

You might try uninstalling all versions of .net then search through
your registry for any references to C\windows\microsoft.net\ and
remove them. You might also try a registry cleaner utility but use
them with caution. As an absolute last resort, you may need to
reinstall Windows which is admittedly an awful thing to have to do.

There are times when the auto update will install 2 .nets files and don't know why.
