.NET needed for Vegas scripts - what exatcly, please?

Hello All,

This seems so dumb to me I almost don't want to ask the question .....

I want to start using scripts in Vegas and I'm sure I don't have .NET installed. When I go to the Microsoft .NET site I can't really see what it is exactly that I'm supposed to download, so .....

Can anyone clearly tell me what exactly file(s) I'm supposed to download and from where, so that I can install the (to me, so far) 'mythical' .NET on my system? I have windows 98SE.

Thanks.

Regards,
Neil Porter

I think this .NET program is one of the hardest to find downloads on the microsoft site! They say you can get it through Windows Update, but when I tried it does not show up. And it sure is hard to figure out what you need to download.

Go to this link and click on "download" in the gray box to the upper right.

.NET 1.1 Redistributable

Don't worry Neil, I had the same problem and had to look for quite a good time 'til I found the link.
I don't know where the MicroSoft designers were when they built this link...

Since you will probably order Excalibur (many wonderful scripts with menu) the .net file
is included on the disc.

If you happen to have XP Pro, you already have it. If you haven't tried it, just download a script and try it. This will tell you if you really need to jump through hoops trying to find the download and install it.

.NET is also on the Windows XP SP1 update disk as a seperate install.
