Network Render

I am sorry if it was covered, but I could not find any threads on it. I just installed a full V5 on my main machine, and a render version on another. Both are running XP, networked. I can see the second machine files from the first PC using My Network places. But when configuring the network render service, putting the second machine name in, results in "unavailable". Must be a user error, but can not find much explanations in the manual...

Is the network render service running on the second machine?

It is installed. When I tried to run it, it reported that it can only be started from the main machine, so I figured it was not an issue. How is it supposed to be?

It needs to be running. You can run it from the Sony/Vegas 5.0 program group in the Windows Start Menu.

Well, I tried again, the second installation would not start. So I uninstalled it and tried to install again. I assume that I am supposed to use the same registration number as for the main machine as there is no any other number on the first page of the manual. The "Installation Wizard has ended prematurely" is the result.
Am I missing something obvious? Is there a different registration number for the client that I do not find?

John, thank you for your attempt to help. Unfortunately, I am having an install issue, before I can go into configuration. Either I am missing something obvious, or may be my academic version does not allow for network rendering - unpublished feature :-(
Do you have to have a separate lic. number for the network computer in addition to the main machine?

You insert the same disks into the remote computer. However, you DO NOT install the full version of Vegas. You only install the network render client. You can do this on two remote computers.
