Glad this forum exists to get help on stuff like this. I am working mostly with HD clips now and my render times have gone up. So I thought I would try setting up network rendering as I have another machince on the network.. 3.4 Ghz, hyperthreaded, 2 gb ram. Host machine will be AMD 64x 4800cpu with 2 gb ram. The machines were already set up on the network and work fine.
Here's what I did:
1. made sure I could see each machine on the network and could see all shared drives and folders and could ping each from the comand prompt.
2. made sure that port 53704 was open on both machines.
3. install latest version of vegas pro on proposed render machine (using same serial number as installed on host)
4. set up desktop shortcut for vegsrv80.exe on desktop
5. restart both machines
6.disabled firewall programs on both machines.
7. started vegsrv80.exe on host machine
8. under renderers tab added ip address of rendering machine
9. trys to connect, but always states "unavailable"
So, it is a mystery to me! I can see both machines on the network. Permissions are set up. I've been using the machines on the metwork for quite some time sharing files back and forth.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Galen
