I kid you not, every correction element you could possibly want is here... from simple one click WB correction through to entire ranges which make Magic Bullet obsolete and the funniest thing about this plugin range is that its SUPER CLEAN.
I just boosted some dark video by about 2 stops and there is no sign of noise or grain... and thats on DV
To do the same thing using Vegas levels and colour corrector, would have taken about 10mins to get it right and then given me a grainy output..

Im still experiementing with this, but so far, im very impressed...

Are you referring to the "video essentials" pack or some other thing from NewBlueFX ??

You are 100% right on that DJPadre. The Newblue set of plugins is
an incredible bunch (especially video essentials II).
The filter that surprises me the most is the noise reducer....this filter removes
noise comparable to Neat Video, but renders fast as hell....."What a time saver"

Tested it here on 720p 30 Fps AVCHD and with a handheld camera. Vegas 9.0a on Windows 7 64 bit.

In my normal working setup the Neat Video does a significantly better job.
Large surfaces like walls keep the colours more smoothly and there is much less flicker around sharp lines like door frames and paintings - which Neat even shows more sharply and with much less blurr.

Render times: New Blue: 3:04, Neat :3:02.

Funny... New blue always seemed like a repeat of effects included in Vegas so I never gave it much notice. I'll have to try out the demo.

Which version has the one click WB correction? And is there a white diffuse feature like in Magic Bullet looks?

Also I find it difficult to believe it to as good as neat Video. Being able to sample noise and then sharpen the footage without bringing up the noise seems hard to beat. But I'll keep an open mind.

I just tried using New Blue's color correctors and image enhancers on some videos that were too dark and New Blue didn't do anything... As a matter of fact Vegas 9's color correction settings look much better. My settings in Vegas 9's color correctors + brightness/contrast, worked much better and with the assistance of Grazie and Earthriser on a previous thread, I'm now able to save multiple effect settings as an effect chain.

Now, Neat Video's cleanup IS really nice. I just tried using the demo and am very impressed. Cleaned up the noise on some indoor videos.

The only thing tho, Neat keeps giving me "out of range", distortion errors and "area too small" messages when I make a square around a specific area. Do the paid versions have this issue?

These are normal. The "out of range" error means the sample area is not good. You need to find a featureless area to sample the noise. If the sample is not big enough it will give you the "area too small error" Sometimea you have to live with a area too small because of the footage. As long as your sample quality is at least 40 I've found it to be ok. Also make sure your preview window in Vegas is set to Best before you take the sample (this is in the manual but not obvious as many of us edit in preview mode).

Another great feature is adding some sharpening. I've found that I get much cleaner and sharper clips this way.

So right! These products do so much better of a job than the Magic Bullet Movie Looks that came bundled back in the Vegas 5.0 era. (I think it was version 5, correct me if I am wrong.) The Art Effects are pretty magical too.

No problem as your camera mostly makes the same type of noise - so every time you get a new camera just make some recordings of large smooth surfaces in medium light and in low light and then build and save a Neat Video template for each - call them i.e. HV20 medium light and HV20 low light.

After this you just have to call one of these templates when you "Neat" the video - and do not need to configure Neat every time you use it.

((None yet... I havent gotten that far. On a 1080p panel, the results on HDV and DV are superclean (and thats no thte screens noise reduction coz i leave that off)
I havent run noise reduction filters yet.. this is strictly the NewBlueVE colour fixer plus filter on its own))

((Cool, I might search it nd check it out when I get a chance. I find brightnss and contrast really mess with Luma density and colour saturation a little too much. This filter has 4 settings plus a dropper. It takes some getting used to. im still working my head around it))

((I think this is a noise within pixel range issue with the plug.. might need to check out their support files, or ask a regular user of the app ))
