New Blue GPU update killed V11!

I have been running the V11 build 521 just fine. I have New Blue essesntials and essentials IV installed and working.
I just updated the essentials to the GPU versions because of their cheap update option and now Vegas doesn't even start!

I get the splash screen and then an error during the file I/O creation. the error just says "Vegas Pro has stopped working" and gives me an option to send the report to Sony. If I don;t touch anything, Vegas eventually appears, but as soon as I click on the eror pop-up, everything disappears.

Steps I took to resolve the issue:
Uninstalled New Blue GPU updates - error remains
Uninstalled V11 and reinstalled it - same error
Tried a system restore to a month ago - System restore cannot fix one of the Vegas DLLs in the File I/O area. - same error.

I will keep working to resolve this, but I wanted to let folks know to beware before upgrading their New Blue plug-ins. Hopefully it is just an isolated incident.

Anyone else having this issue?

Andrew

I'm testing several NewBlue plugins in their trial version, which I assume is the latest GPU version. Vegas has been unstable but that's nothing new.

For me, the latest build of NB Titler has been a step backward.

If Titler Pro is separately applied to different tracks, any change in one changes all.

The only way to get decent results is render each out and work with the renders.

NewBlueFX team seriously needs to get their GPU Acceleration plugs sorted out.
I knew all this was gonna happen before the release of Titler Pro. Its not entirely Vegas fault.

I am sorry and I know this may not sound like a nice thing to say under the circumstances but when are you guys EVER going to get it???

Do a complete backup of your system drive either by cloning to another drive or by making a drive image BEFORE you EVER install an update or anything!!!

Windows system restore is garbage!!!Uninstalls and then reinstalls do not work because uninstall does not remove ALL of what one needs to get rid of!

I have been using Future Systems Solutions Casper http://www.fssdev.com/products/casper/ for a long time now and it gets the job done. There are other great software’s as well.

I simply make the ‘Smart Clone’ which takes a few minutes to two backup drives and THEN install whatever.

If there is a problem, I simply shut down, remove the current system drive, install one of the backup system drives and I am back to where I was before the install and no more problems!

A few minutes of time making a clone or an image type backup saves hours of major headaches! Also is a major step in keep the system clean and stable because installing and uninstalling creates a mess on the system drive!

Hi VidMus,

I did a complete backup. I was just hoping I wouldn;t need to use it to get everything working again.
I am covered, but I really just wanted to get the word out.

You are correct. I learned the lesson a LONG time ago to keep a backup of my most recent, stable system.

Amazing how one little 'update' can screw things up. Luckily I have Vegas running on two other machines here at the studio so I can spend time restoring one machine while I work on another!
The system I am talking about is actually a laptop, so it isn't easy to simply swap out the drive. So on this system I restore from my backup.

Andrew, NewBlue installers don't touch any of Vegas' files so if NewBlue did cause Vegas to stop starting, simply uninstalling would have resolved that issue. Also, our plugins would have cause it to stop in a different area than "File I/O creation".

For everyone using the GPU versions, you must make sure your video card is sufficient AND you are a recent version of the video driver?

Also, when using a laptop there is an additional situation that can arise. Laptops include a "low power mode" which will use reduced functionality video components. You need to tell your video card to never use the reduced functionality in Vegas.
