New Blue Vegas Crashes

Been sticking with vegas every upgrade since version 3. Putting up with the crashes in the last several years, the cross your fingers while rendering, the need to have just the right things on or off to render etc and it has taken this final $239 V12 upgrade with New Blue Titler to put the nail in the coffin.

Now since I have the full license for New Blue and I can use it also in Premiere and compare the performance of New Blue in both. It's easy to see it's not my freaking video drivers or anything else that are the problem, it's Vegas. New Blue works fine in Premiere, no white screens, no unmanaged exception errors every second, no problems. In vegas 11/12 it crashes constantly. GPU rendering off or on.

I think NewBlue is taking a really bum wrap and especially when people trash it but then say they don't use it.

I had problems early on last yr and when I put a ticket in with them they were on me like white on rice with help, and actually solved some of my problems. Some had to be put to their software people and were fixed in later releases.

Now compare that with Sony where you never get a reposnse after weeks and might just get a software update after months of waiting. Who has the real issue?

Let's also keep in mind that Sony has been trying to bundled New Blue stuff with their product. So in my eyes the onus is on Sony.

unfortunately the experiences i had / have with nbt put me off any further purchases of nb fx. i will look again when there is more favourable reviews in this and other forums.

intersting point you make about them working in ppro. how does nbt perform?

I don't use premiere at all normally, I only use Vegas but because I have always had so much trouble I wanted to see if it crashed premiere the way it crashes vegas.

I haven't put NBT through it's paces in premiere but I can say it has not crashed yet in premiere in the limited time I've used it. When I go back to Vegas in a new project trying to use NBT I get a crash withing seconds. Sometimes it takes minutes.

I thought the problem was New Blue and in the early days it may have been but like was said certainly the onus is on Vegas folks given NBT seems to work fine in ppro, at least so far. The controls in NBT are also much smoother in ppro you move your mouse and everything glides and feels like it should. Its choppy in comparrison in Vegas. If you didnt compare the two you might not notice that.

Long time Vegas user (from 4.0), new poster.

I've been having issues with Vegas 11 64bit and NBT from the get go. (Sony must have 10,00 crash reports from me) Sadly, the issues have gotten more severe with each update. With the latest 11 build and NBT it's the worst ever.

Just attempting to insert NBT in a new project on the timeline crashes Vegas. GPU on or off makes no difference. Whether I have an Nvidia card or AMD, it crashes. Whether I avert my eyes from the screen or not, it crashes. Whether I feign indifference or not, it crashes. Whether I...you get the picture.

Just wanted to stop by, vent a little and express a little envy to those of you who have it working smoothly. It sure does (did) look real pretty.

Promised myself an upgrade to Vegas 12 just as soon as 11 was stable. Seems like a tough promise to keep.

Thanks for letting me vent!

I totally agree Jim; I can’t count the number of crashes in one editing session. It has got to the stage when I wince when pressing any icon within New Blue; it’s like waiting for a hand grenade to off. Press any key, hope for the best and save quickly ! I think this soft wear has got too clever for its own good.

I've experienced a few crashes while using NewBlue Titler before, but now that I installed NewBlue's Titler Pro 2, Vegas 11 & 12 won't even start up on my machine.

Everyone having a problem with anything NewBlue, please notify NewBlue tech support for assistance.

For those reporting issues here, please don't just say "NewBlue is causing an issue". NewBlue has MANY products and the only one I'm aware of that is causing anyone an issue is Titler and we are working with people to get the remaining issues resolved.
