Douglas--

That file is named "UltimateSInstaller(2)old.zip". Is this the correct file?

what is Ultimate S used for?

Hi Spot,
Just downloaded and installed - still shows 1.0.1755.42263.
File dates suggest that I do have 1.0.2.

Cheers,
Tom

Ultimate S is a new scripting tool from VASST that has 51 features covering topics like Photo Montage, Editing Tools, Markers, Film Looks, Audio Tools, Visual Effects, Duo-CAM, Auditing, and Setup templates. You can download a 15-day free trial and check it out for yourself.

That’s strange. I just uninstalled my copy, downloaded the file from the VASST site and installed it and mine says 1.0.2.407. If you hover your mouse over UltimateSInstaller.msi it should date a Date Modified: 10/26/2004 1:13 AM. I’m sorry the installer doesn’t have a version number in the dialog. I’ll add that for next time.

Did you forget to change the default install path from C:\ to D:\ or wherever your Vegas is installed. That would do it.

I had the same problem in that it showed the old version.

Uninstall then install the download works and it now shows the updated version.

It has to be registered again and saved presets are lost.

Ouch! I am really sorry for this. I should have documented this.

WARNING: If you saved any presets of your own in Ultimate S, go into the .\Script Menu\Ultimate S\ directory and backup the file called: UltimateS.js.settings. Then uninstall, reinstall, and copy this file back over.

I will write a merge utility to do this in the future. Once again I am really sorry we overlaid your presets.

Hooray!

At last, a GUI that allows my 1920x1200 display to use "Appearance-Extra Large" Fonts along with "Settings-Advanced-General-DPI setting-Large size (120 DPI)."

Great work! Darryl

Darryl,

A big Thank You goes out to YOU for helping me debug this one. Everyone was telling me that there were problems with Large Fonts and I kept changing my fonts in the Appearance setting but I couldn’t recreate it. You correctly pointed out that it was 96 dpi vs. 120 dpi font sizes that were the problem. Once I knew that, I was about to recreate the problem and fix it. So Thanks!

No problem with the presets I am still working my way around the software - I'm impressed

Everything about it hangs together.

I have noticed one odd thing in the interface, in the second tab for editing, the event selections headers appear in a different font that truncates the line on the screen (it is slightly larger and in bold)

Is this just me?

I'm not seeing it. Darryl

Fonts are different on mine also.
JohnnyRoy wrote on 10/26/2004, 7:15 PM
Several people have reported this although I am unable to recreate it. It seems to only happen with nested group boxes. I suppose it’s a Windows bug because there is nothing I do different in the code for any of the group boxes. It also happened on the Visual Effects page for the previous build so I removed the nested grouping and it went away. I’ll do the same for the Editing Tools page in the next update.

Don't mean to be a pain in the tootie, but I never got an answer to my original question. When I put the word "old" in a file name, that tells me it is not the most recent version of that file. Was this the case with this "new build" of UltimateS? Was it posted by mistake?

Thanks guys!

Jay, the word "Old" was inserted when the old was deleted and the new one put up, but for some reason, the server wouldn't allow the new file replacing old to replace the name, too.
You're right, it shouldn't have said old there, but it happened, the right file is up there, and folks are downloading it. We've since modified how the server allows access to filenames, and it won't happen again.
Sorry for the inconvenience, chalk it up to the growing pains of a business expanding it's wings.

Douglas, no inconvenience at all. I just wasn't sure (I'm not too keen on these kids of things). I've already downloaded it and will apply for the license tomorrow.

Thank you!

Technically speaking, when we come out with the next update, the current version will be the "old" version so it is only misnamed temporarily. In fact, you could say it was named "appropriately" ahead of its time. (darn, I should have been in marketing)

It’s kind of like looking for your future X-wife. ;-)
