New camcorder recommendation?

Currently have a Canon XA10 that's on the fritz with a powering off issue.. In the event that this camcorder becomes non-operational, what would be a good replacement for it? I need to have XLR audio inputs, as well as HDMI out. Not a big fan of editing AVCHD in Vegas.. Are all camcorders AVCHD now? What about recording medium, am I stuck with memory cards? I miss the days of miniDV. I don't need 4K, just HD is fine. I shoot for making DVDs, as well as downloadable commercial videos, (H.264, or maybe 265 in the future). Thanks for any suggestions.

The best possible replacement for your camera class with the features you specify will be the same vintage from Canon.
You can still buy new, but used will give you more bang for the buck.

No tape anymore, Memory Card systems rule now

Stay away from AvCHD, 4k promo specs... lots of good HD available.

B&H guy recommended the Sony PXW-X70 It shoots XAVC, never used that before but it seems to be a better format from what I've read.. Does Vegas like it?

I'm hoping I can get my XA10 fixed though and not have to deal with a new camcorder.

That is a relativley new? Sony camera (compared to the generation of camera we have been discussing) and based on what you said in your first post would NOT fit the bill.

You could possibly end up highly dissappointed with what you shoot in video as well as the actual build integrity of the camera.

But I say possible because I really have no idea how good your eyes really are.

How about this one?

Keep in mind that editing XAVC will require a good system; it is more demanding then AVCHD.

I've been buying camcorders since the early 80s. Between the Sony and the Canon lines, the Sonys have been the best built and reliable.
