New computer time!!

My PIII 1 ghz will make a great back up. Has anyone run VV on the new Northwood 2.2ghz P4 w/ 512k cache???

Would this version of VV benefit from this processor??

What about mother boards...was thinking of Asus?

Can S.F. or anyone else offer any advice??

No, VV3 is not optimized for the P4. But you may be able to render twice as fast just on the clock speed increase.

Although not the fastest P4 board (SIS and VIA are faster), I like the stability of the Intel 845D chipset. It's well underrated by Intel and can be pushed quite hard if you like. I'm using a P4 1.9 (best bang for the buck awhile back). I'm sure the new P4 2.2's would be even better with the optimization, but for a price.

I'm running the ASUS p4b266 mb.

(used to be an Cyrix, AMD, VIA, SIS man........now I'm back to Intel)
