This message has been edited for updated info......
Would someone who is an early adopter please be willing to test the new feature of VegasPro12 NLE being used to create a timeline and exporting to Adobe Premiere.

Create a timeline and save as .veg file in SCS and then do an export to Adobe type project?

anybody try the adobe premiere after fx import export feature yet? I tried the trial but all it does is import files and asks for a file that doesn't even exist to be located......"

Many of us would like to know...here is some background conversation from a recent thread:

I managed to open a Vegas project in AE ages ago using XML as the project interchange mechanism.

The very concept is pretty daft, there's somethings you just wouldn't want to do. I'm no AE guru but to the best of my knowledge AE only permits one clip per layer. Not that AE cannot handle 100s of layers but that's not something you'd want to do just to get a project into AE.
TBH I cannot really understand why you'd want to open a project from any NLE in AE, I doubt even Ppro does this, the outcome would be a mess.

Now opening a clip in AE, sure, maybe but a whole project, no way.
It'd be just as messy as trying to open a Vegas audio project in Sound Forge.
What would make sense is say bouncing a Vegas project into Ppro and from that using AE. Adobe have been pushing that workflow themselves for years, even to Vegas users.

Export xxx.prproj with Vegas Pro 12.

Open xxx.prproj with Premiere Pro CS6.

No need to have both open and neither do the apps have to rest on the same pc.
Works fine. Erni

Hi videoITguy,

Importing and exporting between Vegas Pro 12 and PremierePro 6.0 works just as you would expect - that is, you'll be able to transfer projects between applications almost seamlessly. I say "almost" because there are, naturally, a few limitations. For example, features that don't exist in the target app will obviously not be exported. Effects, transitions, and generated media will, for the most part, be omitted as well, since there may not be an exact 1:1 equivalent in the target app. And for effects that do have an equivalent, they don't necessarily have the same parameters or expected behavior, so mapping an import/export path for non-media elements is not feasible. Finally, be sure that your project uses media that is supported in the target app. If PremierePro can't open the media, you will need to transcode it to a format that is supported, such as MXF or M2T.

If you have applied video or audio effects in Vegas that you wish to carry over to PremierePro, I would recommend "baking them in" prior to exporting the project. (Render the media with the effect applied.) For titles, you can render as MOV or uncompressed AVI with alpha channel preserved. Transitions will be converted to simple crossfades.

We've been very careful to notify the user of any elements that are being ignored on export. You will see a dialog appear that gives a detailed list, as well as a .log file saved alongside the exported project. That way, you won't be caught by surprise when finishing your project in the target app.

Hope this helps,
Paddy

I want to thank the ForumAdmin, Paddy, for stepping into the information mix and being confident enough to deliver the goods that lie between marketing promo and real world execution. This is the type of info that is so much sought between SCS and the customer over the many issues that appear concerning design intent and ultimate delivery. Kudos to Paddy!! +10
