New Installation challenge

I just purchased and installed my VV 3.0c software on my Dell 8100 with Windows ME. When I attempt to start the software, I get a gray message box that says "scanning for audio plugins". It hangs-up there. When I check the Task Manager, it shows Vegas Video (not responding) and Rundll32 (not responding). Can anyone help me with a correction to this?

I'm stuck and haven't even started.

I know there is a real fix available, but i don't recall what it is. In the meantime, wait a couple of seconds after you get that gray box, then use task manager to shutdown rundll32. This should allow Vegas to continue starting.

Thanks for the suggestion. It got me past the rundll32, but not sure how I'll correct the problem long term.
