New MediaInfo Download Issues

SecondWind-SK wrote on 9/17/2014, 11:34 AM
I'm populating my new computer with "old friends" utilities. When I try to download MediaInfo, I get warnings from AVG that the download contains Malware of some kind. I never used to get that. Anybody know where I can get a clean install??
As another OT, may I rant about how I hate Google Chrome for Windows 8.1. Rant, Rant!!!

In the latest versions, there is an adware that you can clearly refuse at the time of installation. It's disappointing, but Sourceforge now allows some of this. Make sure to not get fooled into downloading from anywhere else, refuse the adware, and you should be fine. I am.

[edit] Removed my initial post because I found a better solution[/end edit]

Go to this page:

MediaInfo Download

You will find this text about halfway down:

"What if I still don't want to be pestered by these ads?

Give them $5, just to be generous.

Thanks. $5 is dead cheap for MediaInfo and all the other Sourceforge good stuff.

Is it a once off payment, or will it be necessary for each update? Still, $1 for each update is still cheap enough.

It is a one off donation, and you get the link to download the AD free install of the software.

Just curious what the new media info has that one would need to upgrade? It just pulls info from media files. I'm still using an old version and personally prefer an even older version's format w/ out the tabs. (;

Read the changelog for the fixes and new features.

Really for most things not much really changes version to version.
