New Project Template?

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a way to define a startup template so that when I select Project>New... from the main menu, I get my own custom layout that contains all 4 video and all 4 audio tracks labeled simply "Video" or "Audio" on each track.

Well, it would if my version Vegas Movie Studio Platinum 9 had this menu option but it doesn't. :-(

The best I have been able to figure out is to create a fake "project" then save it as something like "Default" and make it read-only (so I don't accidentally overwrite it).

I then open this project every time I want to start a new one and then Save As... to a new project name.

This works OK.
