New PS3 update fixes AVCHD disc menu problem

For anyone making Blu-ray compatible AVCHD discs with menus and playing them back on a PS3, you may have noticed that while the menu looked quite nice when it first came up, it wasn't possible to return to the menu once you started playing the titles.

Anyway, the brand new PS3 update, version 2.1, fixes this. This was one of the few remaining reasons why I still prefered an HD DVD player to a Blu-ray one for playback of my projects.

Kudos to Sony for fixing this.

About the only thing left to fix is to add the pop-up Blu-ray disc style menus to the AVCHD format.

Laurence,
On the PS3 Controller when you hit the "Square" button (left of the "X" button) this would bring me back the the menu, if it was a chapter menu it would return to the chapter menu and not the main menu, to get back to the main menu I would have to select that "Home" Icon on the chapter menu.
Didn't realize there was a bug. I'll have to see the difference with the 2.1 update.
Nice to point this out.

The bluetooth wireless remote is nice to use & has a menu button on it.

Now we just need to get the people in Madison to pull their heads out of their waste canals and get moving on AVCHD authoring!
